Private Health Insurance Rebate Tiers Revised Implementation Date
12 June 2010 - 2:20pm
The Federal Government has advised that the implementation date for its proposed changes to the Private Health Insurance Rebate Tiers legislation has been revised due to the rejection of the legislation by the Senate to date.
The proposed legislative changes would introduce means testing for the Private Health Insurance Rebate and increase Medicare Levy Surcharge rates.
The Federal Government announced that it is still committed to pursuing these changes, however, the implementation date for the changes has been revised now to 1 July 2011 as stated in Budget Paper No. 1 2010-11 (page 3-19).
